Dear Sirs
Cancellation of Insurance Policy No xxxxxxxx
Thank you for your letter of 27 April regarding the above. I attach the Certificate of Insurance as requested.
I thank you also for the £20 discount voucher for xxxxxxxx Insurance but I have enclosed that as well because I won’t be needing it. I do not intend to do business with your rotten, stinking, inefficient company ever again, regardless of price, and here’s why:
When I bought this insurance I asked your operator, not once but 3 or 4 times, the amount that would be refunded, because I knew that I would be selling the car. Each time I was assured that the refund was calculated on a pro-rata daily basis. I asked if there was a cancellation charge and I was assured that there wasn’t.
You can imagine my surprise 3 months later when I call to cancel the insurance and I am told that there will be a cancellation charge of £60. It’s a good job I have a good memory and was able to argue what I remembered. By the next day your Jennifer Adams had reviewed the tape of the conversation and agreed that I had been misled at the time of sale, so the charge would be waived.
This stops short (but only just) of attempted fraud, or lack of training, or sheer inefficiency, and, whichever it is, if you think I’m going to risk my money with you again (far less have to risk having to make a claim, God alone knows how bad you would be at that) then you have another think coming.
She also said that the refund would be made within approximately 5 working days. Well it hasn’t been, so where is it? You are quick enough at getting money out of my account , but it takes 5 days to put it back? I don’t think so. Get it sorted, please, and quickly.
In addition, I don’t need to be told that it’s an offence under the Road Traffic Act not to send back the insurance certificate. You could try asking nicely first before resorting to threats maybe, eh?
Insurance ombudsmen are a threat as well but I’m not going to resort to that. Companies like yours are not worthy of the energy required even to sum up a modicum of contempt. Just give me my money back without further delay, and save us all (but mainly you) a lot of hassle.
Yours faithfully
No reply yet. I'll give them a few days and then show them This
That should provoke a reaction.
